Olive update

Wednesday of last week we made a trip to San Diego to take Olive to see the neurologist who was following her in the hospital. I hear he is a pretty important guy so I guess I will let the TWO hours of waiting slide. We did see one of the residents who works with the doctor and she did all the routine evaluation stuff so we weren't really waiting for two hours, we just waited that long to finally talk to him.

so...... the verdict....... she is doing great! Well, she is "remarkable" as he put it. I went into the appointment so worried and came out wanting to cry tears joy and relief. On the drive down I told John that my goal was to have him say she is doing great and he did!

The first thing he said when he came in the room was directed to a student that was following him around that day, he said, "now look at this baby. Look at how more alert and interested she is then the baby we just saw."I was both so happy and sad at the same time. So happy that my baby look good to him right off the bat, but so sad that he had just seen a baby that wasn't doing as well, knowing that it could have easily been my little one.

We just have to follow up on a few things. Olive possibly has some muscle weakness in one eye so she will be going to an ophthamologist and also she will be having another EEG in a few months to see about a possible epileptic region in her brain that they noticed on her last one in the hospital. We let him know how she had been slightly favoring her right side and he didn't notice anything worrisome. He did say that it was strange because if she was favoring a side he would expect it to be the other side because of where the larger bleed was in her brain. So all in all her recovery has been "remarkable" considering everything she has been through and we could not be happier!

So, once again, thank you all so much for your love and support. You have all helped aid her in recovery with all your positive thoughts and prayers. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I just ask one little favor has I end this post. I ask for you to pray for my sister and her baby boy who is soon to be with us. He has some problems with his heart and we are anticipating somewhat of a fight. And also for my cousin Rose and her unborn baby son, they are having many complications also. So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers and send your good vibes out to the universe for these two special boys.

Little shiny blue bucket

We took a trip to the beach the other day and as we were leaving a woman stopped us in the parking lot and asked Isaac if he had a fun time at the beach. His reply was,

"No, not a very good time."

Do let me explain. All was well and we were having a great time at the beach, Mary, John, Isaac, Olive, Sadie, and I , when all of a sudden I saw Isaac was being knocked by a wave. With my mommy-fast reflexes I jumped from my chair and ran to the water because I saw, as Isaac describes it, his shiny blue bucket fly from his hands. I thought I was fast but in the end not fast enough, for the ocean swallowed that shiny bucket in an instant.

I stood there scanning the waves in hopes that the bucket would come up for air and I could swoop in and rescue it. All the time Isaac standing next to me with his arms up in fists calling out, rather screaming and crying out,

"NOOOOOO! My blue bucket! My Shiny blue bucket! Noooooo!"

Man that boy cried. I knew he would, but my mommy-fast reflexes were no match for the one who calls himself The Ocean.

After a lot of crying Isaac settled down a little bit and decided to go play in the water with John. After about two minutes he came back crying that the water was too cold and he was freezing. So, that was Isaac's not so good day at the beach.

Here is a picture of his sad face telling me, "But what if a shark eats my bucket mom!"

10 year reunion

Last night John and I went to my 10 year high school reunion. We almost didn't make it due to a terrible horrible no good very bad day but we were able to pulled it together enough by 8:30pm to go. I must say we had a great time. It was great to talk to people I haven't seen in a long time. I wish I would have gotten the chance to talk to more people and I was definitely sad about a few faces I didn't see. I also should have taken way more pictures! I guess there is always my 20 year!
So, two things I leaned from this, 1)Your ten year is totally worth it. If you think it is probably not going to be that great and just awkward you are totally wrong! It will be surprisingly so much fun! and 2) Always take more pictures!
