A fun filled weekend

All last week was gymnastics's camp for Isaac and boy did he get a work out! This first picture is of him when he got home from the first day of camp....

He was exhausted! The whole week he came home so tiered. But by the last two days I think he got used to all the exercise and stopped falling asleep on the way home.

So, now we have some fun entertainment!

On the last day of camp daddy and I got to come early and see a little performance from the kids. Isaac's group was first up and I think he did great! And I have proof! Check it!

I know, so talented!

He had so much fun and you could see in his face how excited he was and how much he liked us there watching. It was so cute. After the all the kids did their thing they each got a medal! SO CUTE!

So after camp we came home and got ready for the Del Mar Fair.... Oh, sorry the San Diego County Fair! And yes it is that time of year again, already! And I can't help it, I LOVE the fair! No mullet toting lady or crazy Carney can detour me from going, EVER. I LOVE IT! I think I have gone every year but one since I was like nine or ten. My grandma used to always take us when we were kids and then we did the 4H and then we just went to be cool teens and now we go to be cool parents! I LOVE IT! Maybe it is a nostalgic thing?

Well anyway here are the pictures.

In this one Isaac wanted to go on the bumper cars but when it started he just sat there and they were all yelling at him to push the peddle with his foot but the guy just ended up jumping on his car and pushed the peddle for him the whole time. It was pretty funny.

Isaac loved this ride. He was saying, "Look mom, I'm flying!" "This is so fun mom!"

This picture is of Isaac and John going on the scary ride that literally was like two seconds! You have to click on the picture to see it bigger because the first picture is of them all excited going into the ride and the next one is them coming out all confused. The ride ride was such a rip off!

Look we won the Olympics!

Well that is it. We had a great time and ended up seeing Carla and Sadie there too. I am going to go back because I didn't get a chance to see all the gardens.
P.S. I didn't go to the Farmer's Market:( so Jenny we are on for next weekend OK. It is on sudanys and we got to try and go. YUMMMM.

Some cute stuff

So first, Happy Birthday to my sis Carla! She had a birthday on Tuesday the 24th.... which means my cousin Lauren had a birthday on Monday. Happy Birthday Lauren!
Her Birthday morning stared out rough but the rest of the day was fun. Great Grandma took us out for lunch and I took Sadie home with me so Carla could go shoping with her man. Then Sadie, Isaac, grandma Gloria, and I planned a small surprise party for her that lasted ten minutes untill we moved it to her place. We decorated the house and made birthday crowns for everyone. It was fun. Happy Birthday sis, you still got it!

Now just some cute stuff
This is the cutest, baby Charlotte sucking on her two fingers. When we were out to lunch she put herself to sleep sucking on her two fingers. The funny thing is is that when John was a baby he sucked on his two fingers too. I wish I had a picture to post of him next to this cute thing

And last, These cousins are so cute and so is this picture!

I hate the grocery store!

I absolutely hate the grocery store! It totally stresses me out. I mean where the heck dose all that food end up! A bet like more than 50% in the trash. And how in the heck am I suppose to know what is good for me, OK for me, and "oh my gosh don't eat that crap" for me?

By the time I was done I spent over 100 bucks and I have no idea what the heck I bought! I do know I bought beer though! It wasn't on the list but I made sure to grab some on the way to the check out because man I needed one after that! I hate the grocery store!

I need to start going to the farmers market. Every week I tell myself I am going to go and I never make it. I am sure I would feel way better about my food selection and the whole experience in general. So, this week, Farmer's Market here I come (keep your fingers crossed)!

Come on, someone offer to go with me! Allison, Carla, Mary, Mom! Someone! It will be lots of fun, I promise.

On a happier note.

So, after all the craziness over here we needed to have a little fun. Not only to forget about what happened Friday but also to beat the Insane heat on Saturday. So, we decided to have a water balloon fight! We wanted to challenge our friends Allison and Mark but they were busy at the fair (next time guys!). So we filled up a bunch of balloons and had a great time.

Isaac loves water balloon fights

So it was game time! And after daddy squirted Isaac with the hose.

And the end result... we were all totally soaked but nice and cool!

If anyone is planning to have a water balloon fight anytime soon let me give you a few tips from the Team Arana

1) Playing on cement gives you more advantages then grass; throwing at their feet on cement will cause balloon to burst and splash their legs 100% of the time, unlike grass.

2) You must practice arching your back: when a balloon comes strait to the torso, arching the back will cause the balloon to bounce off you. Failure to do so and tensing the body will result in a balloon explosion on you, most of the time.

and

3) Cleverness is the key to success: Example 1) if you happen to be playing under some kind of trellis, do not hesitate to throw the balloons over the top of your opponent's head. This will result in water splashing directly over their heads. 2) If your opponent is attempting to shield themselves behind some thing, aim for their shielding device when they pop their heads out, this will give a successful splash to the face rather than risking a miss, deflection, or the most dreaded, a catch and release. And last, if your opponent is standing next to the corner of a building, throw the balloon at the wall next to said opponent's face, torso, or feet and this will give the same effect as Example 2: sweet splashing success!

So, fill up those balloons on a hot day and throw to your hearts content! But most of all have fun while doing it.

sincerely,

The Aranas

My neighbor was stabbed!

I had the craziest Friday of my life yesterday and sitting here starting to write about it is making me a little sick to my stomach. I was upstairs in my office sewing some seat cushions when all of a sudden around 12:15 I herd some guy yelling all crazy, "HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" At first I just thought it was people down at the pool fooling around because I can always hear people yelling because it is so close to us. But I herd it again so I opened my window and sure enough I heard it, "HELP ME! HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" He sounded like he was dieing! And by this time I was scared out of my mind! I started to think, oh my gosh! What should I do? I am this tiny girl all by myself, should I grab something big and run out there! Should I go to my neighbors and have them go with me?! Should I call 911? Then before I could even decide what to do I could see people coming out of their houses and going to help. The police came and a firetruck (the fire station is litteraly like right next door) So I stood there and kept watching. My heart was racing and I was so scared! Then all of a sudden the garage door opened up across the way and I grabbed a pencil as fast as I could to write down a license plate # and then a black convertible pulled out and raced away! I got like 3 #'s down and that was it. I was so freaked! Even though there we people out there I was still scared to go out all by myself (I know I am a wimp! but when you are in the moment and all by yourself everything is so crazy!) So by this time it was about 12:25 and I had to go get Isaac from camp so I got in my car and pulled out of the garage into the same alley that car did, CREEPY, and drove all slow. When I got to the end of the driveway I could see the police and ambulance already there. There we people all around and there was a guy across the street laying on his stomach with a blanket covering his body! For all I knew he was just murdered! So I pulled out and ended up pulling over to call John and tell him what just happened! I still didn't get out because I was afraid of what I might have seen. So, I went and got Isaac and took him to my grandma's because I didn't want to freak him out. So, now go and read the whole story

later we gave the detective the info I had but it really didn't matter because they caught her right away.

Our back ally to our garage and the whole back street was blocked off all day and taped off and everything, just like on TV. People had to be escorted to their houses and we couldn't get into our garages. It was all really freaky. It still feels a little creeping being home.

here are some pictures I took of volunteer cops keeping watch in the back

that guy is right next to my yard

this lady is getting escorted to her house

These police were taking pictures of the back of his house.

I wanted to get pictures of the front and all the circus but I didn't. I still can't believe what happened. Scary.

Summer Camp

All this week Isaac has been in summer camp and he has been making the coolest drawings! I am loving it! So I wanted to post some of my son's talent. The first is a picture of Sadie crying, Isaac listening to music, daddy, and mommy....

A little closer look

And the last is a tracing of himself that he colored, remind you of anyone

maybe a Bart Simpson?!
Next week Isaac starts a week if gymnastics camp. I am sure I will have some cute pictures and maybe even some video! so stay tuned!

Oh ya, one more thing, I used Skype for the first time last night and it is the coolest thing ever! I talked to my friend Bridget in New Zealand and it was so cool to see her and talk to her.

We love you bridge and we miss you!

Skype lets you talk to whom ever you want for free, and you can see them while you talk to them! It is so cool! So if you have someone that lives far away and you don't get to see them much it is the perfect thing. It's sweet!

a little update

Happy late father's day to all you dad's out there! We had a great Father's day weekend that started out with a quick satay at the Carlsbad Inn. Mary got a stay at the hotel at a silent auction so Mary, John, Isaac, and I all went and had a fun slumber party at the hotel for one night. It was so much fun! It totally felt like a real vacation and we were only like 2 miles from our house. We ate dinner, went swimming, played ping-pong, walked to the beach, and best of all DRANK COFFEE! It was lots of fun, thank you Mary!
Coffee! Cheers!
Also this weekend I got to see my friend Katy and check out her momma belly! She has got two babies in that thing!

Oh, and I gave my self a hair cut! I don't have a pic, and it's for a good reason! No, JK, it's ok, I think.

Give me coffee, please!

Did I mention that starting last Friday I gave up coffee? How sad for me. It was making me extra crazy so I decided to only drink it on the weekends. I haven't had any for six days though because I couldn't quit on a Friday and then have some on a Saturday! So, here I am drinking tea and not coffee

The sadist thing you have ever seen uh?! Look what it has done to me! He he, actually, I kind of look like Bridget on my shirt!

He he. Totally!

Katy, I love my shirt and your artwork, you know that. I sport this shirt all the time. Rock on!

I wish I had documentation!

Isaac had a long day today and by the time we sat down for dinner he was a total crab and refused to eat what he was served. After about five minutes of whining and crying at the table he stated that he wasn't eating because it wasn't cut up. So, daddy was nice enough to cut it up but before Isaac could finally dig in to his meal he fell asleep. Yup, he fell asleep at the table sitting up in his chair with his head back and mouth open and it was only 7pm. It was pretty funny and cute at the same time. I should have taken a pic to share. Next time I will have the camera at the ready.

Um, I forgot

Thursday was the last day of school for Isaac and the last day of work for me and I wanted to show everyone the cute little gift I got from all the kids.

Notice how Isaac spelled his name backwards........

and look at the cute gift we got from Mrs. Cindy

I love them so much and I plan on hanging them in the office!
Also the other thing I have forgotten to post is my new niece, baby Charlotte.

Isn't she cute?!

kung fu panda

Today John and I took Isaac to the movie theater for the first time. I figured he is finally old enough to go and watch a movie on the big screen. John and I have hesitated to take him in the past because of two major reasons 1) he is a scaredie cat just like his mommy who hid under her theater seat for half of the Never Ending Story when she was little and 2) he talks though every movie and LOUD!

It went pretty well. We took Sadie with us and she sat nice and quite unlike Isaac. He did good the first half and then he got restless and wanted to go home but then once he herd the boys behind us laughing he kept laughing with them only like ten times louder. And yes for once we were THOSE people in the movie theater. The loud talking ones. People may have looked but It was fun and totally worth it!

What's in your teapot?

Ok, so we had a ton of limes in our fridge and so I decide to make some yummy limeade with Isaac yesterday to use them up...... and this is where our story begins. So I have all the lime squeezing done and have just the right amount of water added and the last thing to do is to make a nice sugar syrup by adding some hot water to my sugar. I pick up the tea pot and give it a shake to see if it has any water in it and it feels like it has just enough. I proceed to put back on the stove and light her up. Once it was nice and hot I took the water and added a little to my sugar. As I was suturing it up Isaac kept asking me what was in the teapot and I kept telling him, "hot water, so don't touch!" I know what your thinking and no he didn't touch it. The whole dialog went a little like this....

Isaac: "mom, what's in that?"
me: "hot water so do not touch it!"
Isaac: "um, hot water?"
me: "yes hon, so don't touch it. It is really hot."
Isaac: "Um, I fink my belts in there."
me: " What?"
Isaac: I fink my belts in there."
me: " Oh my gosh, your aren't serious are you?"
Isaac: (with a shrug of the shoulders)" I fink."

And sure enough I open up that teapot and low and behold his belt! The one I haven't seen in forever! So luckily I hadn't added the sugar water yet to my limeade. So I had to clean out the teapot and make it again. But the scary part is who knows how many belt water teas I have made with that water! Grodie! He said it's been in there since Mother's day! And I really can't remember the last time I saw that belt.

Remember me?

Hey Everyone I am back and ready to post. I know that I have been a complete slacker when it comes to blogging and it's not due to a lack of inspiration, I mean, I have a four year old for goodness sakes. I could definitely be blogging something about him everyday.

Well, what I do have for you today is quit exciting stuff, I like to call it two prouds and one not so proud ....

First up, OMG did you see my friend Bridget in SEX And The City! Well I did! I am so proud, even if it was for only two seconds! Check it....

yup, I am so proud I snuck in my camera for some video footage!

Next I have some exciting news about my honey John who is always making me proud. My honey is going to write a book! I won't go into all the details of how it came about but it is official and he was sent a contract yesterday! I am so proud! It is a short 130 page programing book on programing widgets in flash. Even though I will not be able to understand most of the book I am still so so so proud! Go John!

And last but not least, my not so proud..... Yesterday I was upstairs drawing out some quick plans for a sewing table when all of a sudden I was ambushed by this....

Just when you think you can leave your child alone for ten minutes look what happens. He decided to cover his entire face with marker. Luckily washable marker. He said he was tiring to be Frankenstein and he was going to color his neck but he didn't. Lesson learned form this.... ALWAYS BUY YOUR CHILD WASHABLE MARKERS!

and just a closer look...

Notice he even lifted his hair to color the forehead. Got love it!
