pumpkin patch

Carla and I decided to take the kids to the pumpkin patch, FINALLY! The kids had a good time except for the fact that at four years old they can totally tell when they are getting gypped. Big bummer for mom.

Sadie and Charlotte

little Charlotte

Isaac dancing on the hay bails

And this is where the kids knew that they were in fact getting gypped. We bought them tickets for the cheapest ride and let them go on twice. Sadie cried when we left saying she had no fun and Isaac was just bummed that he couldn't go on the $5 ride. It was pretty funny. It looks like they had fun to me.

After reaching great grandma's house and realizing I had left my purse we had to drive all the way back and get it then once again back to great grandma's where I took this cute pic of the girls.

Our new baby GIRL

Yup, It's a girl! John and I had our ultrasound finally and we found out we are having a little girl! We are so excited. So here is our ultrasound pic of her little profile. Can't wait. Oh and we are taking any suggestions for names. Feel free to share!

lil' angel

Isaac's school did a little fun raiser the other week. They had a company come and take pictures of the kids and they dress them up in outfits. Well, the pictures came in and they were so darn cute and funny that we had to buy them all. So, feast your eyes on my little model. He is such a ham I love it!

how a four year old talks to a baby in a tummy

Isaac asked me today,

"Mommy open your mouth."

he then leaned in and yelled into my mouth,

"HELLO LITTLE BABY! CAN YOU HEAR ME!

and that is how a four year old talks to a baby in a tummy.

Total mortification

I can not tell you how completely mortified I was today! Just playing everything back in my head brings tears to my eyes still, and maybe that is because I am pregnant, but either way it still hurts me just the same.

My morning was fantastic and I was on the ball getting everything done that I need to and I was happy to go get Isaac and bring him home from school at 1:00. I made sure to grab a squirt bottle for Isaac to spray on himself in the back of our super hot no AC car because it was so super duper HOT today.

So, the first thing I do is make a mistake that later comes back to haunt me, I park my car super far from the front door so that I can be in the shade so the car won't be any hotter then it has to. I get to school, walk in, collect Isaac's stuff, and then try to get his attention and tell him it is time to go. I tell him I brought him something for the car (the squirt bottle, I thought he would like that) then he says something really cute....
"Is it candy mom?"
"No."
then he gives me a super cute face and says
"Good mom, cuz I made a , a lollie pop ghost today!"

So, super excited he goes to find it and this is were our trip turns to total disaster and mortification. So, As I am opening his lunch to see what he ate, and by the way NOTHING but some strawberries and it is 1pm and he had breakfast at 8am, I begin to hear him start to cry and whine. I go over to the little ghosts where he is and he says his ghost is gone and proceeds to cry and throw himself on the ground. The teacher comes over to tell him that someone must have taken his by mistake and he can take anyone he wants. But, there is no way I am letting him take some other kids art. So, I find his ghost with his name on it thinking he will be happy but he is not! Total hell breaks loose. He begins screaming that he doesn't like that one and is throwing himself all crazy on the ground and the whole time EVERYONE is watching. You could see everyone backing away. All eyes were on us with his extremely loud screams echoing in the boys and girls club. The kids and their parents were all looking but at the same time tyring not to(this is a parent participation preschool so there are always parents there oh and also there is another school in there too)! I start to feel like a total ASS. I have no control over my kid and it is SO embarrassing! I try talking to him and then threatening him and there is no way to snap him out of it. He is in the zone. Then I just have to pick him up with my huge purse in my hand along with all his crap and carry him outside.

So, I am caring him and he is screaming at the top of his lungs and HITTING me so I am thinking to myself "What the hell am I suppose to do?" because moms are suppose to know what to do with there kids right? Well I don't! So, I throw him in time out on the side walk because my car is all the way down the hill in the shade. So, everyone is walking out and trying to avert there attention. I am so mortified and I am tiring to keep it together. So, that didn't work and he is screaming and throwing things so I have to throw him over my pregnant ass shoulder and carry him to the car and this is where I loose it and begin to hysterically cry. He has totally defeated me! I am not only mortified but my self esteem is completely crushed. I am so hurt I can't even be mad.

So, I sit him in the hot car and make him drink some water cuz it is so hot and then I make him eat his sandwich because he is probably starving and hope that will calm him down some what, which it kind of does. Then I drive home crying, feeling like a complete looser, mortified, defeated, and crushed.

We get home and I am unable to focus on anything else. I just cry remembering everyone's faces of horror at how my kid was acting. These mom's I see all the time and work with at the school. We both eventually fall asleep and I am useless for the rest of the day. My husband comes home early and rescues me and just go to bed. let's hope tomorrow is a better day. I am still lost as what to do in that situation. John says kids have meltdowns all the time, but he wasn't there to see this one. I don't think I have ever seen another kid act like Isaac did. That makes it all the worse. I am like a deer in the head lights when this happens. All I can do is freeze and roll over in my head, "OK what am I suppose to do here? What would a responsible mother do in this situation?" Yeah well it never works out in my favor. HELP SUPER NANNY! Any suggestions? I think I will go cry some more.

Crazy pregnant psychicness!

So, I am pregnant if you don't know already. And I am here right know to tell you that one of my pregnant side effects is psychicness! I have been having weird dreams lately and tonight was no exception.

My friends Katy and Ben have been in the hospital awaiting their new babies and Katy went into labor yesterday morning. So John and I were awaiting the news all night and Allison ( Katy's sis) had been calling us to update us on the progress.

So, John and I went out to dinner and when we got home I had the urge to call Allison again around 8 but I didn't because I didn't want to keep bugging her (the babies were expected around midnight) and she told me she would call. So, I fell asleep way early at like 9 and went to bed with my phone.

.... And my dream ....... I was having this crazy dream walking on the street with my sis then inspecting a building my dad had built then all of a sudden in my dream I was interrupted by a text from Allison that was something like, "The babies are here.... their names are Amoingina," Just crazy letters, "and Isaac." I was frantically trying to reread the text to see the girls name again because I was like that was some crazy name. Then I was telling Isaac how the baby had his name and how cool that was. I was so excited and and my dream seemed so real, then all of a sudden..............

I woke up! My immediate thought was that Allison was trying to call me and I herd the phone ringing in my sleep and that is what spark the change in my dream. So literally TWO SECONDS after I woke up my cell phone made a noise telling me I had a message! weird! I grabbed the phone and listed to my voice mail and sure enough it was about the babies! They were HERE!

OK here is the crazy part. I came down stairs all excited and frantic to call Allison. This is at 2a.m.. I call Allison and tell her about my dream right off the bat and then she goes on to tell me that the babies were born at 8. Then I was all confused. 8 a.m.? What? But you just called me!? It isn't even 8 yet, it is 2 a.m. Then it hit me. 8p.m.. WHAT! I missed it! That is when Allison told me she left me that message at 9! But I just got it!

So TWO crazy psychicnesses. 1) I KNEW I should have called when I got home from dinner at 8, The same time Katy was having the babies and 2)That message I got from Allison got to me literally FIVE hours late so a) My phone wasn't ringing making my dream change like I thought, it changed all by itself and all of a sudden! and b) It makes it extra weird that I woke up TWO SECONDS before my phone told me I had a message! FIVE hours late! That is CRAZY right?! I am so tripped out! I had to ramble this experience because it is 2 a.m. and It is too early to jump in my car and go and give those babies a kiss! BABIES HERE I COME!

Kid + clothing accessory

So we had a little incident this morning that involved a naked kid and a clothing accessory.

This morning Isaac informed me that he was on his way up stairs to get dressed and I thought nothing of it. About two minutes later I hear a little voice asking for help, "somebody help me." So as I make my way to the stairs I am greeted by a stark naked Isaac standing on the stairs with something unusual covering his manhood, a clip-on tie! Just picture it, a white little naked wearing nothing but a TIE and not just some plain tie, one with a nice cheerful pattern on it. For some reason he thought it was a good idea to CLIP it to his "you know what". It didn't seem to hurt him too much until I tried to remove the thing. This is where I started to laugh uncontrollably and he began to cry. Lucky for him I got it off quite quick but as I sat there trying to control my laughter he began to get mad and told me, " it's not funny!". I had it almost under control until he said something to me. He was sitting there on the stairs all naked and all mad at me and he said to me, "I'm gonna clip it to your gina." You know, vagina without the "va". I started laughing so hard! And then so did he. It was pretty darn funny. It took me a while to get myself together.

Yes that moment for me was priceless!

what Isaac really thinks of Annie

So, the other night we watched Annie with Isaac and he really liked the movie a lot. I wasn't sure if he would be interested the whole time but he totally was. That made me happy because I love Annie, it is one of my all time favorite movies.

So, auntie Carla was over with Sadie and we all conversed a little on the subject,

Me: "Hey, we all watched Annie the other night and Isaac totally loved it."

Carla: "Oh, Really I have been wanting to show it to Sadie."

Isaac: "Ya, Sadie! Annie, Annie, doesn't have a mom or any parents. She's uh, she's uh,
(pause)
she's uh Organ!"

We all thought that was pretty cute. An organ! he he. Well we all laughed and then corrected his little word mix up. Kids are just too cute sometimes.

So, I haven't been feeling that good so that is why I have been so lame to attending to my blog.

Last Tuesday I went out for a girls night out with my good friends Rocky and Allison and seven other lovely girls. It was nice to get out of the house and have some quality girl time. It was so nice being able to see my friend Raquel whom I have not seen in a while. Love you girls and must do it again soon!

Crazy little tomato

Last summer we had a little cherry tomato plant in a pot and this year it just so happens that we have a little wild tomato plant growing out of the ground right next to the spot we had our pot. It is so cool. We had so many tomatoes last year that we just could not eat them all so we would always have some falling off the plant. It looks like one has accomplished it's mission in existence; to reproduce! Very exciting. That is one thing I love and hate about plants; they are just trying to survive like the rest of us. Well this little guy has thus far succeeded. I plan on digging him up and pot him because he really doesn't get enough light where he is. Hopefully before long I will have some tomatoes to share with you all and all thanks to mother nature doing its job!

Another trip to the Fair!

I have been on a semi-vacation from my blog, or maybe really I have just been lazy.

I went to the fair again yesterday which made it my third trip and it was still fun. The second time I went I went with Grandma, Aunt Charlotte, my mom, my sis, and me. And oh my gosh whom ever idea it was was crazy! I think if you saw us all together you would either laugh or just think ," Oh my gosh, those people are terrible!" We practically argued the whole time, which to any onlooker appears as fighting, and then laughed at how crazy we probably seemed to people and then did it all over again. By the end of the day we mellowed out pretty well though.

We were at the fair for five hours! My grandma is 89! I can't believe she lasted that long. I was so worried she wasn't going to make it back to the front gate when it was time to go considering she REFUSED to let us rent her a wheel chair. She did sit a lot and but she also walked a whole lot too. I forgot my camera that time but this time I remembered it. Here are some cute pictures.

My mom just happened to go to the fair that day too and we ran into her and my aunt Charlotte. My aunt Charlotte works at the fair and she got us all in that day for free. Sweet! I went three times and didn't have to pay once! Thanks aunt Charlotte we love you!

So, I love the fair. I like that once you go and look through all the exhibits and see all the cool stuff that people have done it makes you want to go home and make something too. The only thing I missed this year was the student showcase and my sister said the wood working there was really cool. Next year! But I did see everything else, woodworking and gems, home hobbies, photography, garden, art, and of course some animals.

And one more thing,

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY Carla and Leo! And a little blast from the past

A fun filled weekend

All last week was gymnastics's camp for Isaac and boy did he get a work out! This first picture is of him when he got home from the first day of camp....

He was exhausted! The whole week he came home so tiered. But by the last two days I think he got used to all the exercise and stopped falling asleep on the way home.

So, now we have some fun entertainment!

On the last day of camp daddy and I got to come early and see a little performance from the kids. Isaac's group was first up and I think he did great! And I have proof! Check it!

I know, so talented!

He had so much fun and you could see in his face how excited he was and how much he liked us there watching. It was so cute. After the all the kids did their thing they each got a medal! SO CUTE!

So after camp we came home and got ready for the Del Mar Fair.... Oh, sorry the San Diego County Fair! And yes it is that time of year again, already! And I can't help it, I LOVE the fair! No mullet toting lady or crazy Carney can detour me from going, EVER. I LOVE IT! I think I have gone every year but one since I was like nine or ten. My grandma used to always take us when we were kids and then we did the 4H and then we just went to be cool teens and now we go to be cool parents! I LOVE IT! Maybe it is a nostalgic thing?

Well anyway here are the pictures.

In this one Isaac wanted to go on the bumper cars but when it started he just sat there and they were all yelling at him to push the peddle with his foot but the guy just ended up jumping on his car and pushed the peddle for him the whole time. It was pretty funny.

Isaac loved this ride. He was saying, "Look mom, I'm flying!" "This is so fun mom!"

This picture is of Isaac and John going on the scary ride that literally was like two seconds! You have to click on the picture to see it bigger because the first picture is of them all excited going into the ride and the next one is them coming out all confused. The ride ride was such a rip off!

Look we won the Olympics!

Well that is it. We had a great time and ended up seeing Carla and Sadie there too. I am going to go back because I didn't get a chance to see all the gardens.
P.S. I didn't go to the Farmer's Market:( so Jenny we are on for next weekend OK. It is on sudanys and we got to try and go. YUMMMM.

Some cute stuff

So first, Happy Birthday to my sis Carla! She had a birthday on Tuesday the 24th.... which means my cousin Lauren had a birthday on Monday. Happy Birthday Lauren!
Her Birthday morning stared out rough but the rest of the day was fun. Great Grandma took us out for lunch and I took Sadie home with me so Carla could go shoping with her man. Then Sadie, Isaac, grandma Gloria, and I planned a small surprise party for her that lasted ten minutes untill we moved it to her place. We decorated the house and made birthday crowns for everyone. It was fun. Happy Birthday sis, you still got it!

Now just some cute stuff
This is the cutest, baby Charlotte sucking on her two fingers. When we were out to lunch she put herself to sleep sucking on her two fingers. The funny thing is is that when John was a baby he sucked on his two fingers too. I wish I had a picture to post of him next to this cute thing

And last, These cousins are so cute and so is this picture!

I hate the grocery store!

I absolutely hate the grocery store! It totally stresses me out. I mean where the heck dose all that food end up! A bet like more than 50% in the trash. And how in the heck am I suppose to know what is good for me, OK for me, and "oh my gosh don't eat that crap" for me?

By the time I was done I spent over 100 bucks and I have no idea what the heck I bought! I do know I bought beer though! It wasn't on the list but I made sure to grab some on the way to the check out because man I needed one after that! I hate the grocery store!

I need to start going to the farmers market. Every week I tell myself I am going to go and I never make it. I am sure I would feel way better about my food selection and the whole experience in general. So, this week, Farmer's Market here I come (keep your fingers crossed)!

Come on, someone offer to go with me! Allison, Carla, Mary, Mom! Someone! It will be lots of fun, I promise.

On a happier note.

So, after all the craziness over here we needed to have a little fun. Not only to forget about what happened Friday but also to beat the Insane heat on Saturday. So, we decided to have a water balloon fight! We wanted to challenge our friends Allison and Mark but they were busy at the fair (next time guys!). So we filled up a bunch of balloons and had a great time.

Isaac loves water balloon fights

So it was game time! And after daddy squirted Isaac with the hose.

And the end result... we were all totally soaked but nice and cool!

If anyone is planning to have a water balloon fight anytime soon let me give you a few tips from the Team Arana

1) Playing on cement gives you more advantages then grass; throwing at their feet on cement will cause balloon to burst and splash their legs 100% of the time, unlike grass.

2) You must practice arching your back: when a balloon comes strait to the torso, arching the back will cause the balloon to bounce off you. Failure to do so and tensing the body will result in a balloon explosion on you, most of the time.

and

3) Cleverness is the key to success: Example 1) if you happen to be playing under some kind of trellis, do not hesitate to throw the balloons over the top of your opponent's head. This will result in water splashing directly over their heads. 2) If your opponent is attempting to shield themselves behind some thing, aim for their shielding device when they pop their heads out, this will give a successful splash to the face rather than risking a miss, deflection, or the most dreaded, a catch and release. And last, if your opponent is standing next to the corner of a building, throw the balloon at the wall next to said opponent's face, torso, or feet and this will give the same effect as Example 2: sweet splashing success!

So, fill up those balloons on a hot day and throw to your hearts content! But most of all have fun while doing it.

sincerely,

The Aranas

My neighbor was stabbed!

I had the craziest Friday of my life yesterday and sitting here starting to write about it is making me a little sick to my stomach. I was upstairs in my office sewing some seat cushions when all of a sudden around 12:15 I herd some guy yelling all crazy, "HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" At first I just thought it was people down at the pool fooling around because I can always hear people yelling because it is so close to us. But I herd it again so I opened my window and sure enough I heard it, "HELP ME! HELP ME! SOMEBODY HELP ME!" He sounded like he was dieing! And by this time I was scared out of my mind! I started to think, oh my gosh! What should I do? I am this tiny girl all by myself, should I grab something big and run out there! Should I go to my neighbors and have them go with me?! Should I call 911? Then before I could even decide what to do I could see people coming out of their houses and going to help. The police came and a firetruck (the fire station is litteraly like right next door) So I stood there and kept watching. My heart was racing and I was so scared! Then all of a sudden the garage door opened up across the way and I grabbed a pencil as fast as I could to write down a license plate # and then a black convertible pulled out and raced away! I got like 3 #'s down and that was it. I was so freaked! Even though there we people out there I was still scared to go out all by myself (I know I am a wimp! but when you are in the moment and all by yourself everything is so crazy!) So by this time it was about 12:25 and I had to go get Isaac from camp so I got in my car and pulled out of the garage into the same alley that car did, CREEPY, and drove all slow. When I got to the end of the driveway I could see the police and ambulance already there. There we people all around and there was a guy across the street laying on his stomach with a blanket covering his body! For all I knew he was just murdered! So I pulled out and ended up pulling over to call John and tell him what just happened! I still didn't get out because I was afraid of what I might have seen. So, I went and got Isaac and took him to my grandma's because I didn't want to freak him out. So, now go and read the whole story

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/northcounty/20080620-1953-bn20stab2.html

http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2008/06/20/news/coastal/carlsbad/z1e641cde40e7b8418825746f0007e21c.txt

later we gave the detective the info I had but it really didn't matter because they caught her right away.

Our back ally to our garage and the whole back street was blocked off all day and taped off and everything, just like on TV. People had to be escorted to their houses and we couldn't get into our garages. It was all really freaky. It still feels a little creeping being home.

here are some pictures I took of volunteer cops keeping watch in the back

that guy is right next to my yard

this lady is getting escorted to her house

These police were taking pictures of the back of his house.

I wanted to get pictures of the front and all the circus but I didn't. I still can't believe what happened. Scary.

Summer Camp

All this week Isaac has been in summer camp and he has been making the coolest drawings! I am loving it! So I wanted to post some of my son's talent. The first is a picture of Sadie crying, Isaac listening to music, daddy, and mommy....

A little closer look

And the last is a tracing of himself that he colored, remind you of anyone

maybe a Bart Simpson?!
Next week Isaac starts a week if gymnastics camp. I am sure I will have some cute pictures and maybe even some video! so stay tuned!

Oh ya, one more thing, I used Skype for the first time last night and it is the coolest thing ever! I talked to my friend Bridget in New Zealand and it was so cool to see her and talk to her.

We love you bridge and we miss you!

Skype lets you talk to whom ever you want for free, and you can see them while you talk to them! It is so cool! So if you have someone that lives far away and you don't get to see them much it is the perfect thing. It's sweet!

a little update

Happy late father's day to all you dad's out there! We had a great Father's day weekend that started out with a quick satay at the Carlsbad Inn. Mary got a stay at the hotel at a silent auction so Mary, John, Isaac, and I all went and had a fun slumber party at the hotel for one night. It was so much fun! It totally felt like a real vacation and we were only like 2 miles from our house. We ate dinner, went swimming, played ping-pong, walked to the beach, and best of all DRANK COFFEE! It was lots of fun, thank you Mary!
Coffee! Cheers!
Also this weekend I got to see my friend Katy and check out her momma belly! She has got two babies in that thing!

Oh, and I gave my self a hair cut! I don't have a pic, and it's for a good reason! No, JK, it's ok, I think.
